Jennifer Quinn of the Toronto Star reports that the Raptors luck got a little worse yesterday when Vince Carter injured his knee in practice. Carter is expected to be out for two weeks recovering from a strained tendon in his right knee.

"I know it's at least a week," head coach Lenny Wilkens said last night. "It's unfortunate. I know Vince feels bad. We feel bad, and I'm going to hope that it's just a week." The injury is to Carter?s good knee, not the left knee which has caused him to miss several games over the last three seasons.

Carter left practice early and was not present for the final 15 minutes of the session which is open to the press. The team explained his absence by saying that he knocked his knee against another player during a scrimmage and was going to the locker room for treatment.

Carter appeared fine when he walked out of the team's practice facility and got on a nearby elevator. No one knew the injury was severe enough to sideline Carter for at least a week.

The Raptors will also be without Antonio Davis tonight against Cleveland who is out while waiting for swelling to subside in his right knee. It is not known when Davis will be able to return. We want to give him a week to let that swelling go down, and then see from there, see how he can move on it and whatever," Wilkens said. "But we have to let it subside, and then we'll see."
